I grew up in a small town in eastern Arkansas (Go Hogs!), attended Harding University on a basketball scholarship (Go Bisons!) and then on to law school at the University of Texas in Austin (Hook 'Em!). (I guess you might say I have multiple personalities, divided loyalties, or I am just really confused).
Teri and I married in 1978. Getting her to marry me was probably the most impressive deal that I have been able to negotiate and close in my legal career.
We have three children. Adrian who is married to Kinsey and the father of Tripp and Graeme. Most of you know Adrian as he has served as our Student Minister since 2007. Our middle child is also a son, Kellen, who is married to Jordan (who also grew up here at Southwest) and they have a daughter, Amelia. Kellen, Jordan and Amelia live in San Antonio where Kellen is a high school basketball coach and math teacher. And then there is our daughter, Tandi. Tandi lives in Plano and coaches girls sports and teaches science at Willow Springs Middle School in the Lovejoy school district. Tandi is engaged to be married on June 7, 2015 to Jordan Robison (I know that is kind of confusing).
When I was in 5th grade, I won a shetland pony (which I named "Lucky Boy") on a TV contest. Part of winning the pony included making a TV commercial promoting a local hot dog brand.
Reading, writing (I have written one book, The Change Moment, and am working on a second), playing golf, dating Teri and being with our children and grandchildren.
I work part-time as an attorney primarily practicing in the area of wills, trusts and probate.
Getting Teri to marry me and raising three great children.
Back to Israel to finish a trip that got interrupted due to a little mishap.
My favorite meal is probably steak, baked potato, corn on the cob and hot fudge cake for dessert.
I like most kinds of music, but especially enjoy contemporary Christian music (Hillsong, Matt Maher, Kutless, Mercy Me), classic rock (James Taylor, Rare Earth, CCR, The Eagles) and jazz (Brian Culberson, Dave Koz, Candi Dulfer).
Probably my favorite song is "Take Me In" by Kutless. It speaks to my heart's desire to go deeper with our amazing God.
England and Scotland (2013). Beautiful country, incredible history and amazing golf courses.
John 3:16 - "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life."
"He Loves Me" by Wayne Jacobsen. Absolutely outstanding. I wish everyone would read this book.
Ambidextrous, but I really like my Mac.
That Jesus truly loves you, even likes you, wants to be with you and wants to give you an amazing life forever.
Every time we get to see someone take a significant step in their journey of following Christ.
Southwest is an amazing family that really cares about people.
