Located at Plains Baptist Assembly in Floydada, Texas. The camp is 9 miles south of Floydada, approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes from Amarillo.

From I-27, take exit 49 to the east; this road is Highway 70. Go about 29 miles and turn right on TX 207/US 62 w/s. Turn left at CR 318 and drive 2.1 miles into camp.

Who can attend Southwest Base Camp?

Southwest Base Camp is for kids entering 1st-6th grades in the fall of 2017

FAQ’S

Rooming

Each room will accommodate 10 people. We will have at least two adults in each room. Boys and girls will be in separate rooms.

Dress Code

As you know, it’s HOT in the summer. Shorts are definitely encouraged, but please be aware of the length. Girls may not wear spaghetti straps, halter tops, or strapless shirts. Per Plains Baptist Assembly rules, girls must wear a one-piece swimsuit. If you bring a two-piece (a tankini is a two-piece), you must wear a shirt over it while you are swimming (moms included). Everyone must wear a shirt/coverup to and from the swimming pool.

If I go as a volunteer, what do I have to do?

BE FLEXIBLE - Please be prepared to help out in various different situations—games, activities, worship times, discussion groups, home-sick kids, etc. You may be called on for some crazy things. It will not be the most restful week of the summer for you, but the blessings you will receive will far outweigh the challenges.

Departure/Return

We will meet at the Children’s Ministry Entrance at 10:00 am on Monday, July 24th. Ready to leave @ 10:30 am. Bring a SACK LUNCH that includes a DRINK. This will be your lunch on the way to camp.

Campers will arrive at Southwest around 8 pm on Wednesday, July 26.

Pictures

Throughout our time at Base Camp, pictures will be posted on the ‘Southwest Children’s Ministry’ Facebook page. You must ‘like’ this page to be able to see the pictures. We will tag parents in their pictures of their kids.

What To Bring:
  • Bible and pen 
  • 3 pairs of shorts
  • 3 t-shirts (no spaghetti straps, halter tops, or strapless shirts)
  • One set of clothes you can get really messy in
  • Socks and tennis shoes
  • Extra pair of shoes
  • Pajamas
  • One-piece swimsuit (t-shirt must be worn over two-piece suits; a tankini is a two-piece - this is PBA’s rule so we need to respect that)
  • T-shirt/cover-up to wear to and from pool (for guys and gals)
  • Paintball Clothes (for 5th & 6th grade only)
  • Beach towel (labled)
  • Bath towel and washcloth (labled)
  • Bed linens (for XL twin bed) or sleeping bag (labled)
  • Pillow (labled)
  • Shampoo and soap
  • Deodorant (please!)
  • Toothbrush and toothpaste
  • Sunscreen (labled)
  • Insect repellant (labled)
  • Medicine - All medicine must be in its original container and turned into the camp nurse Monday morning. She will distribute the medicine as prescribed. If your child brings any other over-the-counter medication, that must also be turned into the camp nurse that morning.
What NOT To Bring:
  • Radio, MP3 Player, Video Game, iTouch, Portable DVD Player, Cell Phone, Tablet
  • Anything you’d get in trouble for bringing to school
  • Extra money—everything you need will be provided for you
